Democratic Republic of the Congo
We work in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to document environmental harm and international crimes linked to natural resource extraction in conflict-affected areas.
We combine field-based documentation and legal expertise to produce evidence that can support accountability efforts at both domestic and international levels.
Our Approach
We support local partners and investigators to document incidents in line with international standards, while analysing multiple sources to identify patterns of environmental damage and violence.
Our work focuses on:
Environmental harm linked to mining activity
Violence against civilians, including killings, sexual violence, and displacement
The role of natural resources in financing armed groups
Structuring evidence for legal and accountability processes
Featured Work
Joint Submission to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Climate Change (30 April 2025)
Together with LexCollective and Femmes pour la Paix et les Droits Humains (FPDH), we submitted a report examining how coltan extraction in eastern DRC contributes to serious human rights abuses and international crimes in the context of the global energy transition.
